The Panel
Every Amount On The Gelagen Label
Nine pages, each headed by the figure printed on the bottle, because a nutrient without an amount is a marketing word.
Eight published amounts, plus the base
Each with a page of its own, including the ones where the evidence for supplementing is thinner than the advertising.

The headline nutrient of the whole hair-skin-nails category, present here at a dose hundreds of times the daily requirement.

The one nutrient on this label with a direct, non-negotiable role in building collagen.

The nutrient most people in northern latitudes are genuinely short of, and the one your skin manufactures rather than absorbs.

The fat-soluble antioxidant that sits inside cell membranes and takes the hit so the membrane does not.

Built around a cobalt atom, made in nature only by bacteria, and required by every skin cell that intends to divide.

The only mineral on this panel, and the nutrient with the strongest dermatological track record after vitamin A.

Named after a leaf, and required by every dividing cell in your body before it can copy a single letter of its DNA.

The most studied nutrient in skin science, and the only one here where more is clearly not better.

Not a vitamin at all. It earns a page because the sugar question deserves answering before you pay rather than after.
How to read these nine pages
Every one is built the same way and the shape is deliberate. The amount printed on the bottle comes first, in large type, because a nutrient without a number is a marketing word. Then what that number is measured against — a full day, a quarter of one, or a hundred and sixty times one. Then the job it does inside a skin cell, what running short looks like, where the ceiling is, and where food supplies it.
That order exists because it is the order the questions arrive in. Not is this good for me but how much is in it, and how much is that.
The eight published amounts in one table
| Nutrient | Per serving | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Biotin | 5000 mcg | By far the largest single amount on this panel. |
| Vitamin C | 20 mg | A modest amount by supplement standards. |
| Vitamin D | 10 mcg | Ten micrograms is 400 IU in the older unit. |
| Vitamin E | 7.4 mg | Fat soluble, so it accumulates rather than flushing out. |
| Vitamin B12 | 6 mcg | Two and a half times the adult reference intake. |
| Zinc | 2.7 mg | A conservative amount, which is deliberate. |
| Folate | 442 mcg DFE | DFE means dietary folate equivalents. |
| Vitamin A | 630 mcg | The one amount on this panel with a ceiling worth checking. |
Thirteen nutrients are declared on the panel in total. The eight above are the ones this site has published figures for; the remaining five appear on the bottle alongside the percent daily values. Where a number here and the panel in your hand disagree, the panel is right.
Grouped by what they actually do
Copying the DNA
Folate and Vitamin B12. A cell duplicates its genome before it divides, folate carries the carbon atoms that duplicate is written with, and B12 keeps folate usable. Neither works properly alone.
Building the protein and the structure
Biotin activates the enzymes that handle the amino acids keratin is assembled from. Vitamin C is required by the two enzymes that let a collagen triple helix hold its shape. Different proteins, same principle: without these, assembly fails.
Setting the instructions
Vitamin A and Vitamin D. Both behave like hormones rather than like raw materials, binding receptors on DNA and switching gene programmes on and off. Vitamin A governs how a skin cell matures; vitamin D governs proliferation and the antimicrobial peptides that defend the barrier.
Protecting what is already built
Vitamin E inside the membranes, vitamin C in the watery compartments regenerating it, and Zinc running several hundred enzymes and the zinc-finger proteins that grip DNA.
The three numbers to check before ordering anything
- Vitamin A, 630 mcg. Fat soluble, stored in the liver, ceiling of 3000 mcg from all sources combined. Fine alone; worth totalling against a multivitamin.
- Biotin, 5000 mcg. No ceiling exists, so this is not a toxicity question. It is a laboratory interference question and it is a real one.
- Zinc, 2.7 mg. Deliberately small, because zinc competes with copper. Do not stack a standalone zinc tablet on top without checking.
Everything on these pages is written against the label, published reference intakes and the public fact sheets listed at the foot of the homepage.
About What Is In The Bottle
How many nutrients are in Gelagen?
Thirteen are declared on the panel. This site publishes amounts for eight of them, each on its own page, and the bottle carries the complete list.
Does Gelagen contain collagen?
No. It is a vitamin and mineral formula. The nutrient in it that actually touches collagen is vitamin C, which two enzymes require in order to build a stable collagen helix.
Which amount matters most?
It depends what you are checking for. Vitamin A at 630 mcg is the one with a ceiling. Biotin at 5000 mcg is the one affecting blood tests. Vitamin D at 10 mcg is the one most readers are genuinely likely to be short of.
Is there a proprietary blend?
No, and it is the most useful thing about this label. Every nutrient carries its own figure rather than being pooled under a combined weight where you cannot see it.
Are percent daily values printed?
On the bottle, beside every nutrient with an established reference intake. That panel is the authority and this website is commentary on it.
Where do these figures come from?
The product label plus NIH Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheets and FDA safety communications. The full list is at the foot of the homepage.
Sixty Days, And An Opened Bottle Still Counts
The clock starts when your card is charged, not when the parcel lands, and it runs for sixty days. A bottle you have been eating from every morning is still inside the policy. That single clause is what makes the guarantee worth anything at all: skin needs a full turnover cycle before a verdict is fair, so a refund that only accepted sealed bottles would be a refund designed never to be claimed. Post them back, claim what you paid for the product, and the steps — postage included — are written out on the refunds page.
